With the 13th edition of IPL looming around the corner, excitement about it is also at its peak. The most successful cricket league worldwide, IPL has managed to maintain it's fantastic run for 12 years now, and as this season also marks the first one with Sourav Ganguly at the helm of things, and it is expected that there are certain things that can change under Dada.
All the teams have made varying degrees of changes to their line ups with Royal Challengers Bangalore, who ended the previous season at the bottom of the points table releasing most players amidst tall talks of who they should target for IPL 2020 auction. With preparations for the tournament in full swing, the enthusiasts are already analysing who the winner of the orange cap can be.
Here are five players who are top contenders for the orange cap in IPL 2020.
1. Virat Kohli
Not only is he the top ODI batsman of the world, it often seems like his game does not believe in the concept of form, as he manages to deliver spectacular performances, whatever the format it. He had won the Orange Cap back in 2016 when he scored a record 973 runs in just 16 matches. The RCB camp has shown immense faith in him over the years and surely hopes that given his top-notch form the last few months, in the T20 format, he will be a strong contender for the orange cap.
2. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is yet another Indian player who never seems to disappoint. With his classy style of batting, he has managed to get decent runs in almost all the tournaments he plays. Providing captaincy to the Mumbai Indians even in this season of the IPL, all eyes are on him to see if he can win this year's orange cap. He has also scored more than 4000 whopping runs in his IPL career, a feat not achievable by many. It is under his captaincy that the date of the Mumbai Indians has changed and they won the league in 2013, 2015, 2017 and again in 2019. It is now only time will tell, whether one of the finest batsmen will get the orange cap or not.
3. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is another offering from the Indian Team and has been considered to be one of the most promising rising stars and has served some spectacular performances. Though experts are saying that he is not in the best of forms right now, struggling to find his rhythm, but the IPL still has a few months to go and no one really knows how he'll end up performing. He had been in incredible form the last season and was also the ICC Emerging Player in 2018. He is a proper contender for the Orange Cap, 2020.
4. Chris Lynn
Chris Lynn is a top-class batsman from Australia and has had a lot of experience in the T20 format. Playing for KKR in the last edition, Lynn has also been top form the last few months. He has good records in this format, having played 163 T20s and scored 4434 runs. He also has an average of 32.36 and an impressive high score of 101 in this format? Bought by Mumbai Indians this season, Chris Lynn will be looking to further his records.
5. David Warner
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner is one of the only hopes. After he got banned in March 2018, the player made an unprecedented comeback. He has been the second-highest run-scorer, the time they won the title with an impressive 848 runs with a strike rate of 151.42. He has also won the Orange Cap on three past occasions and that speaks volumes about his capabilities as a batsman. He, in fact, is the winner of the IPL 2019 Orange Cap. In IPL 2019, Warner outdid even himself as a player, and along with Bairstow, the two were an unstoppable force. Warner appears to be one of the main contenders for the Orange Cap in IPL 2020, and will be all set to lead his team towards victory. IPL has been a
